SOME FESTIVAL-GOERS SAY IT WAS THE BEST WAY TO PAY TRIBUTE TO THE IRISH TRADITION.
THE FESTIVAL CONTINUES THROUGH THE MONTH OF MARCH.

THEN AT DUSK... A CREW OF AT LEAST 14 HOT AIR BALLOONS FLASHED IN TUNE WITH MUSIC FROM A LIVE BAND.

 

THE PINKEST PARTY IN TOWN GAVE BREAKFAST LOVERS AROUND CENTRAL GEORGIA SOMETHIGN TO DIG INTO THIS MORNING.
THE ANNUAL CHERRY BLOSSOM PANCAKE BREAKFAST GOT UNDERWAY AT CENTRAL CITY PARK WITH MACON-BIBB FIRE FIGHTERS AT THE GRIDDLE FLIPPING PINK FLAP JACKS.
A HUNGRY CROWD ENJOYED A PLATE OF PINK PANCAKES... SAUSAGE... JUICE... AND COFFEE FOR 5 DOLLARS.
KIM CHASTAIN SAYS THE PINK PANCAKE BREAKFAST HAS BEEN A FAMILY TRADITION FOR ABOUT 20 YEARS.
"Its fun. Weather, well sometimes it's cold but today it was really nice. You know, it's cherry blossom time, it's spring and it's just a lot of fun, the people, the sight's the sounds."

THEY FOUND A 28-YEAR-OLD MAN WITH A GUN SHOT WOUND TO THE UPPER RIGHT THIGH... BUT THE SHOOTER HAD GOTTEN AWAY.
POLICE ASK ANYONE WITH INFORMATION ON THE SHOOTING TO CALL MACON REGIONAL CRIMESTOPPERS AT 1-877-68-CRIME.

CATERPILLAR... THE COMPANY THAT MAKES CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT.. CELEBRATED A GROUND BREAKING OF ITS OWN ON FRIDAY.
THE COMPANY IS MOVING FAST TO BUILD ITS 200 MILLION DOLLAR MANUFACTURING PLANT NEAR ATHENS.
THE PLANT PROVIDES SOME WELCOMED NEWS FOR GEORGIA'S ECONOMY.
WITHIN FIVE YEARS... CATERPILLAR EXPECTS TO EMPLOY 800 PEOPLE AT THE FACTORY.
PLANT MANAGER TODD HENRY SAYS THE GOAL IS TO HIRE THE FIRST 250 WORKER BY NEXT SUMMER.
THE PROJECT WAS ANNOUNCED LAST MONTH.

 

THE AMERICAN SOLDIER ACCUSED OF KILLING 16 CIVILIANS IN AFGHANISTAN IS IN THE U-S AWAITING FORMAL CHARGES.
BUT AS INES FERRER REPROTS... MANY PEOPLE IN AFGHANISTAN ARE UPSET HE WAS TAKEN OUT THE COUNTRY WHERE THE CRIMES WERE COMMITTED.

Staff sargeant Robert Bales is being held at Fort Leavenworth in Kansas. He was flown from Kuwait on Friday.
The 38-year-old will undergo a physical and psychological exam.

Military officials say Bales left his base in Kandahar last Sunday -- and killed 16 civilians - nine of them children.
A defense department official says he was drinking before the attack.

Neighbors in his hometown of Lake Tapps, Washington are shocked.

The military moved Bales wife and two young children to the nearby base where he was stationed.
The family has put their house up for sale.
Neighbor Kassie Holland says Bales used to watch her kids.

"I'M COMPLETELY BLOWN AWAY, I CAN'T BELIEVE HE WOULD HAVE DONE THAT AND I'M JUST WAITING FOR SOMETHING TO COME OUT TO SAY THAT IT WASN'T HIM."

But court documents show Bales was arrested ten years ago for assaulting a girlfriend. He was ordered(?) to attend attend anger management classes. (?)

Bales enlisted in the military after the 9-11 attacks.
He was deployed to Iraq three times.
His attorney says he suffered a head injury after his vehicle rolled over - and also lost part of his foot.
Late last year Bales was training to be an Army recruiter when he learned he was being sent to Afghanistan.
