HELLO EVERYONE AND THANKS FOR JOINING US.... I'M LEAH JOHNSON..
AND I'M FRANK MALLOY.
THIS IS EYEWITNESS NEWS AT SIX...

OUR TOP STORY TONIGHT... SEVERE STORMS PUSHED THROUGH CENTRAL GEORGIA TODAY.
THE LINE SPUN UP A FEW ISOLATED TORNADO WARNINGS.
OUR WEATHER TEAM HAS BEEN MONITORING THESE STORMS.
LET'S JOIN CHIEF METEOROLOGIST BEN JONES FOR AN UPDATE.
THANKS BEN.. WE'LL TALK WITH YOU AGAIN IN JUST A FEW MINUTES.

A WARNER ROBINS MAN HAS SPENT MORE THAN THREE WEEKS IN JAIL...EVEN THOUGH POLICE CHARGED HIS ACCUSER WITH FALSELY REPORTING A CRIME.
THAT HAD PROSECUTORS AND A PUBLIC DEFENSE ATTORNEY EXCHANGING WORDS TODAY.
LORRA LYNCH JONES EXPLAINS.<<nats-
ANGIE COGGINS.. CHEIF ASSISTANT IN THE HOUSTON PUBLIC DEFENDERS OFFICE... SAYS IN HER 22 YEARS OF WORK... THE CASE OF NATHANIEL WATKINS STOOD OUT.
Angie Coggins: (14:50) "It's a matter of what's right."
HE'S BEEN CONVICTED ON PAST ROBBERY AND DRUG CHARGES.
Angie Coggins: (12:38) "He's a convicted felon, but hasn't committed a crime. He shouldn't be sitting in our jail."
HE'S THERE TWO WEEKS AFTER HIS ACCUSER.. EX-WIFE DANIELLE WATKINS... TWICE TESTIFED THAT SHE LIED TO POLICE... ACCUSING HER EX OF STALKING... THREATS AND BURGLARY.
Angie Coggins: (6:45) "My concern with a situation like this, where the DA's office is aware, that their alleged victim has testified twice under oath, that she lied to police. That what she said happened, truly didn't happen."
WEDNESDAY POLICE ARRESTED AND CHARGED DANIELLE WATKINS WITH FALSE REPORT OF A CRIME. SHE GOT OUT ON BOND.
NATHANIEL IS STILL IN JAIL... BUT ERIKKA WILLIAMS... CHIEF ASSISTANT IN THE DISTRICT ATTORNEYS OFFICE... SAYS HE COULD GET OUT WITH NO BOND... IF HIS SISTER COMES TO GET HIM.
Erikka Williams: (21:25) "Mr. Watkins does have an O-R bond, which means he could get out of jail if he wanted to. I don't know why he's still in jail."
Angie Coggins: (8:55) "His sister is unwilling to come get him, because it's her position that the charges should be dismissed.'
WILLIAMS SAYS IT'S NOT THAT SIMPLE.
Erikka Williams: (21:50) "Sometimes that takes additional investigation. The DA's office is not going to rush out and do things at the rate of speed the defense wants them to do it, because it just doesn't work that way. (2:20) "We work the citizens of this county, not for them."
Angie Coggins: (11:36) "The taxpayers of Houston County continue to foot the bill."
IT COSTS $65 DOLLARS A DAY PER INMATE... MAKING WATKINS TOTAL 15-HUNDRED DOLLARS AND CLIMBING.
STD
>> BOTH ATTORNEYS AGREE THAT IN CASES OF ALLEGED DOMESTIC VIOLENCE.... IT'S COMMON FOR ALLEGED VICTIMS TO CHANGE THEIR STORY.
PROSECUTOR ERIKKA WILLIAMS SAYS WHEN THAT HAPPENS.... THEY MAY RELY ON WITNESSES TO BACK UP THOSE CHARGES.
THE DEFENSE TEAM SAID THAT'S NOT A VALID POINT IN THIS CASE... BECAUSE THEY SAY DANIELLE WATKINS SWORE UNDER OATH... THAT HER STORY WAS QUOTE..."A TOTAL FABRICATION."
COGGINS SAID THE CASE IS SET TO GO BEFORE A GRAND JURY TUESDAY.

THREE CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS ARE FACING CHARGES AFTER BIBB COUNTY CAMPUS POLICE FOUND A HANDGUN CAUSING THE SCHOOL TO LOCK DOWN FOR A LITTLE OVER AN HOUR..
THEY DECLARED A CODE RED AND LOCKED DOWN THE SCHOOL AT ABOUT 8-45 THIS MORNING.
AUTHORITIES SAY THEY GOT THE TIP FROM A STUDENT.
MILLER MIDDLE SCHOOL WAS PUT ON A CODE YELLOW...BECAUSE IT'S NEXT DOOR TO CENTRAL.
AFTER A SEARCH THEY LIFTED THE CODES AT BOTH SCHOOLS JUST AFTER 10.
SCHOOL OFFICIALS DECLINED TO ANSWER FURTHER QUESTIONS ABOUT THE CASE.... WHAT TYPE OF WEAPON THEY FOUND.... WHERE IT WAS.... OR WHETHER IT WAS LOADED.
THEY ALSO DECLINED TO NAME THE STUDENTS CHARGED.
BUT THE BIBB COUNTY JAIL WEB SITE SAYS FOUR STUDENTS WERE CHARGED WITH POSSESSION WEAPONS AT SCHOOL TODAY....TWO 19-YEAR-OLD GIRLS AND TWO 17-YEAR-OLD BOYS.
SCHOOL SAFETY DIRECTOR DAVID GOWAN SAYS ONE OF THOSE GIRLS IS ACCUSED OF POSSESSING A BOXCUTTER...WHICH WAS FOUND DURING THE SEARCH.

BIBB COUNTY CHAIRMAN SAM HART ALONG WITH OTHER CITY AND COUNTY LEADERS EXPLAINED THE DETAILS OF THE PLAN THAT WOULD TRANSFER EMPLOYEES FROM THE CITY TO THE COUNTY.
HART BROKE DOWN THE BENEFITS FINALIZED BY COUNTY COMMISSIONERS EARLIER THIS WEEK.
Hart: 6 "The city and coutny have agreed that employees should maintain helath insurance coverage uninterrupted."
Steve Layson: "I think it's just common nature when something like this occurs that are employees are concerned and worried and rightly so, but sometime that leads to some rumors and inuendos and people getting excited about things that actually aren't true.
HARTS SAYS THE GOAL OF THE PRESS CONFERENCE WAS TO MAKE SURE THE EMPLOYEES BEING TRANSFERRED... WERE AWARE OF THE AGREEMENT.
BUT THE CITY STILL HAS TO APPROVE IT. FINANCE DIRECTOR DALE WALKER SAYS HE EXPECTS COUNCIL TO VOTE IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF WEEKS.
HART SAYS ONCE THAT HAPPENS.. THE COUNTY WILL START TO IMPLEMENT THE CHANGES AHEAD OF THE EMPLOYEE TRANSFER ON JULY FIRST.

MACON POLICE SAY A BYRON MAN IS BACK ON THE STREETS AFTER HE WAS CHARGED WITH INDECENT EXPOSURE.
JAMI GAUDET WITH MACON POLICE SAYS 46-YEAR-OLD TIMOTHY MARCUS WAS RELEASED ON BOND THURSDAY NIGHT FROM THE BIBB COUNTY JAIL.
HE WAS ARRESTED EARLIER IN THE DAY... AND CHARGED WITH ONE COUNT OF INDECENT EXPOSURE. POLICE SAY HE'S A SUSPECT IN SEVERAL OTHER CASES.
MARCUS IS A CONVICTED CHILD MOLESTER... WHO'S ON THE GEORGIA SEX OFFENDER REGISTRY.
HE'S ALSO ON PROBATION FOR A CASE IN MARIETTA.
SARGEANT SEAN DEFOE WITH THE SHERIFFS OFFICE SAYS HE WAS RELEASED BECAUSE MARIETTA HAD NOT FILED ANY WARRANTS OR HOLDS ON HIS PROBATION.

THE CASE WAS NOT HEARD BY A MAGISTRATE JUDGE
DEFOE SAYS THATS BECAUSE MARCUS QUALIFIED UNDER A PRESET BOND SCHEDULE FROM THE SUPERIOR COURT.
GAUDET SAYS POLICE HAVE A NEW WARRANT FOR HIS ARREST AND AT LEAST ONE ADDITIONAL CHARGE AGAINST HIM.
BUT SHE SAYS MARCUS CALLED IN SICK TO WORK TODAY... AND AUTHORITIES DON'T KNOW WHERE HE IS.
GAUDET SAYS POLICE BELIEVE MARCUS IS DRIVING A CHAMPAGNE 2011 TOYOTA CAMRY... WITH TAG NUMBER B-U-Y-7-0-7-6.
SHE ASKS ANYONE WITH INFORMATION TO CALL MACON REGIONAL CRIMESTOPPERS AT 1-877-68-CRIME. AGAIN THAT'S .... 1-877-68-CRIME.
