NATS Romney campaigning

Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich got personal Monday while campaigning in New Hamsphire.

NATS Gingrich campaigning

The top contenders for the Republican Presidential nomination challenged each other to return millions made outside of politics.

Romney first called on Gingrich to give back an estimated 1.6 million dollars he made to provide advice to Freddie Mac.

That drew a quick response from Gingrich.

15:48:08/pipe 3 SOT: (Newt Gingrich/Republican Presidential Candidate) ``If Governor Romney would give back all the money he's earned from bankrupting companies and laying off employees over the years at Bain, then I would be glad to listen to him. But I bet you $10 not $10,000 that he won't take the offer.''

The jab about money refers to a wager Romney offered to Rick Perry at a debate in Iowa Saturday.

EN pkg (Romney) "Rick, I tell you what? 10 thousand bucks? A 10 thousand dollar bet? (Perry) I'm not in the betting business. (Romney) Oh, ok.

Romney's opponents have pounced on the remark he made when the debate turned to the national health care reform law.

They say only a multimillionaire would offer to bet such a large amount.

Standup: (Tara Mergener/Washington D.C.) "Romney and Gingrich are increasingly targeting each other three weeks before the New Hampshire primary. It's a must win state for Romney but Gingrich is now at the top of national polls- and has cut into Romney's lead in New Hampshire."

NATS tonight/Gingrich

Gingrich remained in New Hampshire Monday night for an event in Windham-- spending more time in a state he's visited infrequently this year.

NATS Romney/tonight

Romney headed south to New Jersey, for his first rally with Governor Chris Christie after winning his endorsement.
THE NEW HAMPSHIRE PRIMARY IS JANUARY 12..
