FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD NEXT WEEK... FOR FORMER STATE SENATOR ROBERT BROWN.
BROWN DIED AT HOME THIS WEEK FROM A SELF-INFLICTED GUNSHOT.
THIS AFTERNOON... THE GLOVER MEMORIAL MORTUARY IN MACON ANNOUNCED HIS FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS.
A SERVICE WILL BE HELD WEDNESDAY... AT 1 P-M.. AT GREATER ZION HILL BAPTIST CHURCH ON NAPIER AVENUE.
THAT'S ACCORDING TO THE REVEREND DOCTOR WALTER GLOVER... WHO WILL DELIVER THE EULOGY.
HE SAYS NO VISITATION IS SCHEDULED... AND BURIAL IS PRIVATE.
FAMILY MEMBERS WERE TALKING TODAY ABOUT BROWN'S STATE OF MIND IN THE DAYS LEADING UP TO HIS SUICIDE.
TODAY A COUSIN TOLD US BROWN SEEMED VERY DEPRESSED ABOUT THE FUTURE WHEN THEY LAST TALKED ON SUNDAY.
CALVIN WILLIAMS SAYS BROWN WAS IN THE HOSPITAL AND VERY ILL... FOUR YEARS AGO... AND FEARED THAT THE ILLNESS HAD RETURNED RECENTLY.
WILLIAMS WAS AT BROWN'S BRIARCLIFF ROAD HOME THIS MORNING WHILE TAKING CARE OF HIS COUSIN'S BUSINESS.
WHEN HE COULDN'T REACH HIM ALL WEEK....WILLIAMS WAS CONCERNED SOMETHING WAS WRONG.
WILLIAMS SAYS BROWN HAD A STOMACH PROBLEM.....BUT HE DIDN'T KNOW DETAILS OF HIS COUSIN'S AILMENTS....OR WHY HE WAS HOSPITALIZED FOUR YEARS AGO.
BIBB COUNTY CORONER LEON JONES SAID TODAY'S AUTOPSY CONFIRMED THAT BROWN KILLED HIMSELF PROBABLY SOMETIME YESTERDAY MORNING.

A GROUP OF MINISTER CAME TOGETHER TONIGHT TO HONOR SENATOR ROBERT BROWN AND TWO OTHER CITY AND STATE LEADERS.
IN SONG AND IN PRAYER, THE BAPTIST MINISTERS UNION RECOGNIZED BROWN... FORMER MACON MAYOR C. JACK ELLIS AND STATE REPRESENTATIVE DAVID LUCAS FOR THEIR SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY.
THE ORGANIZATION HELD THE EVENT AT THE ALEXANDER BALLROOM.
THE PEOPLE WE SPOKE WITH SAY THEY ARE STILL SHOCKED ABOUT THE NEWS OF BROWN'S DEATH... BUT THAT IT WAS IMPORTANT TO SHOWCASE HIS LEADERSHIP AS A GREAT LEGISLATOR AND PUBLIC SERVANT.
"Well, I wish he was here, all I can say is that I don't know what the problem was and we all complain about various problems we have but we don't know what kind of problems other people have. I would just leave it at that."
"When people think about Senator Brown, they just can't start with the senate, they have to start with him giving to Mercer University, helping organizing young people in this community and later running and serving on the school board for three term which he had a tremendous impact as to the direction of the school system here."
ROBERT BROWN SERVED 20 YEARS AS THE STATE SENATOR FOR TWIGGS COUNTY... AND PARTS OF BIBB... HOUSTON ... AND WILKINSON COUNTIES.
HE WAS 61 YEARS OLD.

JONES SAYS IT'S HIGHEST SUICIDE RATE HE'S SEEN IN HIS 21 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE.
THE COLISEUM CENTER FOR BEHAVIORAL HEALTH WORKS TO TREAT PEOPLE SUFFERING FROM DISORDERS LIKE BI-POLAR AND DEPRESSION..
GAYE ETHRIDGE SAYS IN THE LAST 2 YEARS.. THEY'VE SEEN MORE PEOPLE COME THROUGH THEIR DOORS SEEKING HELP..
SHE SAYS FORMER SENATOR ROBERT BROWN FELL INTO AN AT RISK CATEGORY.

THE FUNERAL SERVICE FOR JORELYS RIVERA IS SCHEDULED FOR 2 P-M.
SEVERAL HUNDRED PEOPLE GATHERED AT A LOCAL PARK TONIGHT TO LIGHT CANDLES IN HER MEMORY.
JORELYS WAS LAST SEEN A WEEK AGO... WALKING TO HER APARTMENT FROM A PLAYGROUND INSIDE THE COMPLEX.
INVESTIGATORS THINK SHE WAS TAKEN TO AN EMPTY APARTMENT... STABBED AND BEATEN TO DEATH.
HER BODY WAS FOUND MONDAY.
A 20-YEAR-OLD MAINTENANCE WORKER AT THE APARTMENT COMPLEX... RYAN BRUNN... IS BEING HELD WITHOUT BOND ON A MURDER CHARGE IN CONNECTION WITH HER DEATH.

THE VIRGINIA TECH COMMUNITY IS HONORING ITS FIRST POLICE OFFICER KILLED IN THE LINE OF DUTY.... AS THE PUBLIC LEARNS MORE ABOUT HIS KILLER.
POLICE IDENTIFIED THE SHOOTER 22 YEAR OLD ROSS TRUETT ASHLEY... A PART-TIME STUDENT AT A NEARBY SCHOOL.

THE 39 YEAR OLD ARMY VETERAN WAS KILLED IN A SHOOTING ON CAMPUS THURSDAY.

HE ULTIMATELY TOOK HIS OWN LIFE ABOUT A HALF MILE AWAY. POLICE BELIEVE ASHLEY ACTED ALONE. WHAT THEY CAN'T FIGURE OUT --- IS WHY.

A FUNERAL SERVICE FOR OFFICER CROUSE IS SET FOR MONDAY AFTERNOON, AT VIRGINIA TECH'S CASSELL COLISEUM.
OFFICER CROUSE RECEIVED AN AWARD IN 2008 FOR HIS WORK TO COMBAT DRUNK DRIVING.
HE WAS ALSO TRAINED IN CRISIS INTERVENTION.

TODAY OUR HERO CENTRAL.. 13 DAYS OF GIVING SPOTLIGHTS A LOCAL PROGRAM THAT USES SPORTS TO GIVE KIDS A WAY TO EXPRESS THEMSELVES.
BUT THE PROGRAM NEEDS YOUR HELP TO REACH THE GOAL LINE.
THE PEACH COUNTY YOUTH ASSOCIATION IS IN ITS SECOND YEAR... PROVIDING ATHLETICS FOR KIDS IN THE COMMUNITY.
THEY CURRENTLY HAVE 81 KIDS IN THE PROGRAM.. AND HOPE TO EXPAND.
BUT BRODERICK HENRY SAYS THEY NEED DONATIONS TO HELP GIVE THE KIDS NEW EXPERIENCES.
