yea we're making headway....
FOR 35 YEARS... LT CARL FLETCHER HAS WORKED TO PUT CRIMINALS BEHIND BARS... BUT HE SAYS ONE OF THE MOST FRUSTRATING THINGS ABOUT INVESTIGATIONS.... IS WHEN PEOPLE WHO SEE A CRIME... REFUSE TO TALK TO POLICE....
Fletcher: "It's been a problem as long as I've been here... We cant do it ourselves and it's just so frustrating when you've got 10 eyewitnesses to a crime, that you walk up to them and say what did you see? " I ain't seen anything I don't know anything I ain't got to talk to you."
Brittiny Barber: "Just over a month ago on a night where eight people were shot across Macon, six men were shot here at this home on Berkner Ave. and police say as bullets flew over 100 people werE here at the time."
Fletcher: "Not only do we have citizens who are not cooperating with the police the victims are not cooperating with the police."
FLETCHER SAYS OF THE SIX SHOT... FIVE DECIDED NOT TO TALK TO OFFICERS....
Fletcher: "What they tell us is police don't have to live in this neighborhood, we do, so we come down there and give a statement we got to go right back and be labeled a snitch."
ON TOP OF THAT... SOME PEOPLE DON'T TRUST POLICE... AND FLETCHER SAYS THAT'S A BATTLE THEY FIGHT EVERYDAY...
Fletcher: "Start trusting us more than they're trusting us because we're all here to serve them and make their lives a lot easier and safer..."
WITHOUT THE HELP EYEWITNESSES.... FLETCHER SAYS IT COULD TAKE LONGER TO SOLVE CRIMES... AND MORE PEOPLE COULD GET HURT IN THE MEAN TIME...
