MACON-BIBB FIRE CHIEF MARVIN RIGGINS IS INVESTIGATING A VIDEO THAT SHOWS A MASKED GUNMAN FIRING SHOTS INSIDE A FIRE STATION AS PART OF AN ALLEGED HOAX.
ELEANOR LISSITZYN HAS MORE.
Mayoral Spokesman Clay Murphey says Fire Chief Marvin Riggins is conducting a full investigation into a prank that allegely happened at this fire station...number one hundred and eight... on Sunday afternoon.
In a YouTube Video of a prank you see what appears to be a masked gunman busting into the fire station, holding what looks like a gun. He yells at everyone to get on the ground and you can see several firefighters drop to the ground.
The masked gunman actually appears to shoot another firefighter.
Murphey says no one was actually injured in that incident.
Batallion Chief Preston Thomas Jr. is in charge of the firefighters at this station, I asked him if he was aware of any prank that happened on Sunday.
He said he was not.

MURPHEY SAYS THEY MAYOR'S OFFICE HAS NO FURTHER COMMENT ON THE MATTER RIGHT NOW..
CHIEF RIGGINS DID NOT RETURN OUR PHONE CALLS.

MACON CITY COUNCIL WON'T DISCUSS FUNDING FOR THE POLICE CHIEF'S PLANS TO HIRE SIX MORE OFFICERS THIS WEEK
CLAY MURPHEY.. SAID THE 350 THOUSAND DOLLAR BUDGET REQUEST... WASN'T SENT TO THE COUNCIL LAST WEEK AS PLANNED.
HE SAID THE MAYOR'S OFFICE REALIZED THE REQUEST NEEDED A LOT MORE CHANGES IN THE POLICE BUDGET... INCLUDING REWORKING THE DEPARTMENT'S ORGANIZATIONAL CHART.
MURPHEY SAYS THEY HOPE TO SEND THE REQUEST TO THE COUNCIL THIS WEEK... SO THEY CAN CONSIDER IT NEXT WEEK.
POLICE CHIEF MIKE BURNS WANTS TO HIRE THE NEW OFFICERS AS PART OF HIS PLAN TO FIGHT STREET CRIME.

BIBB COUNTY STUDENTS HAD A HOLIDAY TODAY... BUT THEIR TEACHERS AND EVERY OTHER SCHOOL DISTRICT EMPLOYEE WAS HARD AT WORK DREAMING UP THE BIBB COUNTY SCHOOL OF THE FUTURE.
THE BRAINSTORMING SESSION OF THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE WAS PART OF SUPERINTENDENT ROMAIN DALLEMAND'S STRATEGIC PLANNING PROCESS.

MORGAN ELEMENTARY TEACHER GLENDA DAVIDSON'S GROUP TALKED ABOUT MORE SUPPORT AND RESPECT FROM THE COMMUNITY AS THE KEY TO STUDENTS' SUCCESS.
"Teachers, the profession itself, the education system doesnt get the respect it deserves."
ALL THE GOALS WILL BE GROUPED AND PRIORITIZED.
SUPERINTENDENT ROMAIN DALLEMAND SAYS HE HOPES THE END RESULT WILL BE A PLAN...HE CAN CALL THE MACON MIRACLE.

DAVIDSON SAYS COMING UP WITH THE GOALS WAS THE EASY PART.. THE CHALLENGE WILL BE SEEING IT THROUGH WITH ACTION.
SHE SAYS IT'S DOABLE AS LONG AS EVERYONE STAYS AS POSITIVE AS THEY WERE MONDAY.
