BELLS AND SIRENS RANG AROUND CENTRAL GEORGIA AND THE NATION TODAY... IN HONOR OF THE PEOPLE KILLED IN THE SEPTEMBER 11TH TERROR ATTACKS TEN YEARS AGO TODAY.

TODAY THE COURTYARD OF THE GEORGIA PUBLIC SAFETY TRAINING CENTER WAS PACKED WITH PEOPLE WATCHING THE 4TH 9/11 MEMORIAL CEREMONY IN FORSYTH.
EVENT ORGANIZERS SAY MORE PEOPLE CAME OUT TO THIS COMMEMORATION... THAN IN ALL YEARS PAST.
AS CANDACE ADORKA SHOWS US... THE EVENT HONORED THE LIVES LOST... AND THE SERVICE OF ALL MEN AND WOMEN IN UNIFORM.

>> THE FORSYTH-MONROE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE ALSO ORGANIZED A MOTORCYCLE RIDE TO GO ALONG WITH THE CEREMONY.
MORE THAN 400 RIDERS DROVE AROUND THE TRAINING CENTER... TO HONOR THE 411 PUBLIC SAFETY OFFICERS WHO DIED AT GRUND ZERO.

MAJOR WALLACE COLE HOGAN WAS ONE WITH THE NEARLY THREE-THOUAND PEOPLE WHO LOST THIER LIVES ON 9-11.... AND THE ONLY PERSON FROM MACON WHO DIED THAT DAY.
HOGAN WAS A VICTIM OF THE ATTACK ON THE PENTAGON.
AND TODAY... RIVERSIDE CEMETARY HELD A REMEMBRANCE CEREMONY IN HIS HONOR....
PEOPLE FROM AROUND MIDDLE GEORGIA CAME OUT TO SHOW THEIR SUPPORT FOR THE HOGAN FAMILY....
FOUR DIFFERENT RELIGIOUS LEADERS SPOKE AT THE EVENT TO PROMOTE UNITY... PASSION... AND HEALING.
LATER.. A WREATH LAYING CEREMONY TOOK PLACE AT HOGAN'S MARKER.
FAMILY FRIENDS SAY THE CEREMONY SERVED AS A COLLECTIVE REMEBERANCE OF EVERYTHING LOST ON 9-11.
AMANDA UPSHAW "I just think it's so important to remember his sacrifice and where he was that day and that this person came from Macon. It's true what Robert Hughes said that he's just a model for all of us to aspire to living in his example."
MAJOR HOGAN IS BURIED AT ARLINGTON NATIONAL CEMETARY.
HIS FAMILY PLACED A MARKER FOR HIM AT RIVERSIDE CEMETARY TO PAY THEIR RESPECTS.

IN MILLEDGEVILLE..... GEORGIA COLLEGE HELD A CEREMONY THIS AFTERNOON...TO REMEMBER THE FOUR GEORGIANS WHO LOST THEIR LIVES IN THE ATTACKS.
PEOPLE FILLED THE COLLEGE'S FRONT CAMPUS... TO PAY TRIBUTE TO VICTIMS... AND ALSO HONOR FIRE... POLICE... AND E-M-S MEMBERS.
THEY PAUSED FOR A MOMENT OF SILENCE TO REFLECT... THAT WAS FOLLOWED BY A PERSONAL STORY FROM A GEORGIA COLLEGE STUDENT WHO LOST HIS UNCLE IN THE 9-11 ATTACKS.
ORGANIZER KENDALL STILES SAYS IT IS IMPORTANT FOR PEOPLE TO PAUSE AND REMEMBER THAT TRAGIC DAY... TO PAY TRIBUTE TO THOSE LOST ON THAT SEPTEMBER MORNING.
Kendall Stiles coordinator think the biggest thing is is just remember what happened and to take a moment, weather it is just a moment at your house our at an event like this and just to remember the individuals that lost lives during that time. But then also really focus it on our local heroes like our fire police, our officers, our EMT, our soldiers and what they do everyday"
GEORGIA COLLEGE CONTINUES TO REMEMBER THE SEPTEMBER 11th ATTACKS BY HOSTING EVENTS THROUGHOUT THE WEEK.
TOMORROW... A MOMENT OF SILENCE WILL BE OBSERVED ON THE FRONT CAMPUS.
AND ON TUESDAY... THE COLLEGE WILL CELEBRATE LOCAL HEROES WITH A PARADE FOLLOWED BY A COMMUNITY-WIDE COOK-OUT.

AT LAKE TOBESOFKEE'S ARROWHEAD PARK... LEADERS AND VOLUNTEERS GATHERED THIS MORNING TO DEDICATE A MEMORIAL TO FIRST RESPONDERS.... IN HONOR OF 9-11.
VOLUNTEER MACON SPEARHEADED TO PROJECT.
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR GIGI ROLFES SAYS.... WHAT STARTED OUT AS A FLAG POLE WITH A FEW AZALEAS... ENDED UP AS A 40-THOUSAND DOLLAR PROJECT THAT WAS PAID FOR WITH VOLUNTEER LABOR AND DONATIONS.
BIBB COUNTY CHAIRMAN SAM HART AND CHIEF DEPUTY DAVID DAVIS SAY... THE MEMORIAL IS A SYMBOL OF THE UNITY... SERVICE... AND RESILLIENCE THE NATION SAW AFTER 9-11.
David Davis "We hope that people when they will certainly remember those lives lost on 9/11, the commitment of those people who give their all to protect others and as a reminder that every day there are people out there protecting our community and protecting others."
Sam Hart "This park was rebuilt after themothers day storm so that's a good symbol to have here because it's again, the nation rebuilding after 9/11 so i think it's very fitting and apropriate place to put this memorial."
ROLFES SAYS IT TOOK ROUGHLY 300 VULUNTEERS ABOUT A WEEK TO PUT TOGETHER THE MEMORIAL.
SHE SAYS IT WAS PART OF A NATION-WIDE "I WILL" CAMPAIGN THAT ASKED PEOPLE TO HONOR 9/11 WITH PUBLIC SERVICE.

IN NEW YORK... THOUSANDS CAME TO GROUND ZERO TODAY... TO HONOR THE LIVES LOST AND GET A FIRST LOOK AT THE NATIONAL SEPTEMBER 11TH MEMORIAL.

IT HAPPENED AROUND 11 THIS MORNING ACCORDING TO SPOKESWOMAN JAMI GAUDET.
SHE SAYS THE SUPERVISOR ON DUTY TRACKED THE COORDINATES OF THE CALL... WHICH CAME BACK AS ROBINSON DRIVE IN SOUTHWEST MACON.
OFFICERS FOUND 23-YEAR OLD CHRISTOPHER DANIEL TODD AT THE LOCATION.
GAUDET SAYS TODD ADMITTED TO PHONING IN THE THREAT.
HE WAS ARRESTED CHARGED WITH MAKING TERRORISTIC THREATS AND PROBATION VIOLATION.

ORGANIZERS HAVE SET A NEW DATE FOR THE DEDICATION OF THE MARTIN LUTHER KING JUNIOR MEMORIAL IN WASHINGTON.
THE PROJECT'S EXECUTIVE ARCHITECT.... SAYS THE MEMORIAL WILL BE DEDICATED ON OCTOBER 16TH.
THE DEDICATION WAS PLANED FOR AUGUST 28TH... THE 48TH ANNIVERSARY OF KING'S "I HAVE A DREAM" SPEECH.. BUT IT WAS DELAYED BECAUSE OF HURRICANE IRENE.
THE ARCHITECT SAYS PRESIDENT OBAMA IS SCHEDULED TO SPEAK AT NEXT MONTH'S EVENT.
OCTOBER 16TH WILL BE THE 16TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE MILLION MAN MARCH.... ON THE NATIONAL MALL IN 1995.
