YOU CAN WATCH IT LIVE HERE ON 13WMAZ.
MURPHEY SAID THE MAYOR WILL ALSO ANNOUNCE A NEW PLAN FOR GROWTH... EDUCATION... PUBLIC SAFETY AND TRANSPORTATION.

BIBB COUNTY SCHOOLS SUPERINTENDENT ROMAIN DALLEMAND SPOKE WITH LAUREN DISPIRITO ABOUT THE RECENT WAVE OF TEEN VIOLENCE..
HE SAID HE AGREES WITH MACON MAYOR ROBERT REICHERT THAT CHURCHES AND FAMILIES NEED TO TAKE THE LEAD.
BUT HE SAYS SCHOOLS ALSO HAVE A ROLE TO PLAY.
Romain Dallemand, Superintendent: "When those things happen in the community, they do trickle down into the schools, and as a result we have to strengthen the current discipline policy that we have we need to make sure that school is a place that is safe, a place where students can come and learn, and a place where when students come, as a parent myself, I don't have to worry about their safety."

DALLEMAND ALSO DISCUSSED THE CRISIS FACING EDUCATION AND SHARED HIS IDEAS FOR CHANGE WITH DOZENS GATHERED AT THE MACON ROTARY CLUB'S WEEKLY MEETING TODAY.
Romain Dallemand, Superintendent: "And my dream is that we can have a system where we can reach every single one of our students and prepare them to be successful in a twenty-first century multi-ethnic global economy."
HE SAYS LAST SCHOOL YEAR.. THE DISTRICT EXPELLED NEARLY FIVE HUNDRED (493) STUDENTS...
SUSPENDED NEARLY EIGHT THOUSAND (7,914)
AND MORE THAN SEVEN HUNDRED (703) DROPPED OUT.
DALLEMAND CALCULATED THE DISTRICT'S GRADUATION RATE AT JUST OVER 44 PERCENT.

SOME COMMUNITY LEADERS LIKE WHAT THEY'RE HEARING FROM THE NEW SUPERINTENDENT.
Kathryn Dennis, Community Foundation of Central Georgia 0-6: "He's got a well defined plan it sounds like to build a strategic plan that will be actionable and move us forward."
Gene Dunwoody Jr, Architect, 7-16: "I think that he has a great vision for our system as far as looking forward to the future of long range what we could have in the community and I think he has an excellent plan."
DALLEMAND HOPES FOR INPUT FROM COMMUNITY LEADERS NEXT MONTH WHEN THE DISTRICT HOSTS A MEETING TO START DRAWING A STRATEGIC PLAN FOR ITS FUTURE.
HE HOPES TO COMPLETE THE PLAN BY JANUARY... AND PUT IT IN PLACE AT THE EARLIEST... NEXT AUGUST.

ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE FACES TOUGH TIMES AND PAINFUL BUDGET CUTS AHEAD.
THAT WAS THE CONSENSUS AT THE ROBINS REGION PROGRESS REPORT... HELD TODAY AT THE MUSEUM OF AVIATION IN WARNER ROBINS.
SPEAKERS... INCLUDING 8TH DISTRICT REPRESENTATIVE AUSTIN SCOTT... SENATOR SAXBY CHAMBLISS AND MAJOR GENERAL BOB McMAHON... TOLD THE CROWD THE SAME CONCLUSION....
THE NATIONAL DEBT IS THE NUMBER ISSUE FACING ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE.... AND EFFORTS TO REDUCE THAT DEBT WILL IMPACT ROBINS.
Maj. Gen. Bob McMahon, WR-ALC Commander: "It is indicative change will come to Robins Air Force Base and this Air Logistics Center. There's additional changes I would guess as we look forward to the future. Amounts of dollars that were talking about, we can't expect not to see changes."
McMAHON SAID A HIRING FREEZE IS IN ALREADY IN PLACE AT ROBINS.
THE BASE STARTED OFFERING VOLUNTARY EARLY RETIREMENT AND VOLUNTARY SEPARATION PROGRAMS TO EMPLOYEES LAST WEEK.
NONE OF THE SPEAKERS COULD PREDICT WHEN OR IF THERE WILL BE ANOTHER ROUND OF BASE REALIGNMENT AND CLOSURE OR BRAC....
BUT SENATOR SAXBY CHAMBLISS SAYS THE COMMUNITY WILL NEED TO FIGHT TO KEEP MISSIONS AND ATTRACT NEW ONES TO ROBINS.
Saxby Chambliss, US Senator:"Were in such different times today than we were in 1995 or 2005. Folks, I'm telling you. You're going to have to recommit yourselves stronger than ever to supporting this base. I don't know what your responsibility is going to be. I don't know what job you're going to be tasked with, but all I can tell you is one of the challenges I want you to leave here today from is, you're going to have to work harder than ever now, whether we have another round of Base Closure or not, because the decision to have three ALC's is an Air Force decision. It is not a decision of the Pentagon."
CHAMBLISS SAYS RIGHT NOW... THE AIR FORCE IS COMMITTED TO KEEPING THREE AIR LOGISTICS CENTERS IN THE U-S... INCLUDING ROBINS.
HOWEVER... THE PENTAGON COULD DECIDE TO CONSOLIDATE OR ELIMINATE PROGRAMS... WHICH COULD REDUCE THE AMOUNT OF WORK AND JOBS AT ROBINS.

IRENE IS FINALLY GONE... AFTER KILLING MORE THAN THREE DOZEN PEOPLE AND LEAVING BEHIND AN ESTIMATED SEVEN BILLION DOLLARS IN DAMAGE.
