Mayor Robert Reichert: "It appears i'm going to be your mayor for the next 4 years!" **cheering** THE RESULTS WENT BACK AND FORTH FOR HOURS... BUT AT THE END OF THE NIGHT... MAYOR ROBERT REICHERT CAME OUT AHEAD IN THE DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY RUNOFF FOR MAYOR OF MACON.
GOOD EVENING AND THANKS FOR JOINING US..
I'M FRANK MALLOY..
AND I'M LORRA LYNCH JONES..THIS IS EYEWITNESS NEWS AT 11.

TWO INTENSE RUNOFFS IN CENTRAL GEORGIA TONIGHT.... MACON MAYOR ROBERT REICHERT SEEKING REELECTION AGAINST FORMER MAYOR C. JACK ELLIS... AND FORMER MACON CITY COUNCIL PRESIDENT MARIAM PARIS AND FORMER STATE REPRESENTATIVE DAVID LUCAS COMPETING FOR A STATE SENATE SEAT.
FIRST... THE MAYOR'S RACE...WHICH WENT BACK AND FORTH FOR MOST OF THE NIGHT...
read results from screen
AGAIN... CURRENT MAYOR ROBERT REICHERT HAS APPARENTLY WON TONIGHT'S RUNOFF ELECTION.
OUR ELEANOR LISSITZYN IS AT MAYOR ROBERT REICHERT'S CELEBRATION AT THE ARMORY BALLROOM DOWNTOWN.
ELEANOR... CAN YOU DESCRIBE THE NIGHT FOR US?
THANKS ELEANOR.

FORMER MAYOR C-JACK ELLIS WAS LESS THAN 600 VOTES AWAY FROM SECURING WHAT WOULD HAVE BEEN HIS THIRD TERM AS THE CITY'S LEADER.
SUPPORTERS AT ELLIS' HARDEMAN AVENUE HEADQUARTERS CHEERED C-JACK IS BACK... AS RESULTS CAME IN THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT.. BUT IN THE END.. IT WASN'T ENOUGH.
C. Jack Ellis: "I'd like to congratulate Robert Reichert... never ever forward ever backward never."
ELLIS DECLINED OUR REQUEST FOR AN INTERVIEW... FOLLOWING TONIGHT'S ELECTION.

TONIGHT'S RESULTS ARE FOR THE PRIMARY RUNOFF... BUT CITY RACES WILL STILL APPEAR ON THE BALLOT FOR NOVEMBER'S GENERAL ELECTION.
RANDALL SAVAGE IS JOINING US NOW TO EXPLAIN... RANDALL?
THE CITY COUNCIL RACES WERE DECIDED LAST MONTH..
THERE'LL BE TWO REPUBLICANS ON THE 15 MEMBER COUNCIL... AND THE REST ARE DEMOCRATS.
AND ALTHOUGH MAYOR ROBERT REICHERT WON THE DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY TONIGHT... HE STILL FACES REPUBLICAN WRITE-IN CANDIDATE DAVID COUSINO IN THE GENERAL ELECTION.
COUSINO HAD ORIGINALLY PLANNED TO QUALIFY AS A REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE IN THE PRIMARY ELECTION... BUT CHANGED HIS MIND ON THE LAST DAY OF QUALIFYING AND DECIDED TO RUN AS A WRITE-IN INSTEAD.
FOUR YEARS AGO... COUSINO WAS THE REPUBLICAN PARTY NOMINEE... AND HE LOST TO REICHERT BY A SUBSTANTIAL MARGIN... WITH REICHERT POSTING 96 PERCENT OF THE VOTE.
THANK YOU RANDALL.

THE OTHER HOTLY CONTESTED RUNOFF TONIGHT IS STATE SENATE DISTRICT 26 BETWEEN... FORMER MACON CITY COUNCIL PRESIDENT MIRIAM PARIS AND FORMER STATE REPRESENTATIVE DAVID LUCAS.

STATE SENATOR-ELECT MIRIAM PARIS IS JOINING LORRA IN THE STUDIO NOW...

DAVID LUCAS WATCHED THE RESULTS ROLL IN AT HIS CAMPAIGN HEADQUARTERS IN DOWNTOWN MACON.
HE CONTINUES TO ACCUSE HIS OPPONENT... MIRIAM PARIS... OF AVOIDING THE ISSUES DURING THE RACE AND RELYING ON REPUBLICAN SUPPORT TO WIN.
"You have to realise that thiis is about something else, this is about tea party republicans dictating in a democratic race, and that's all its about."
LUCAS SAYS IF HE HAD THE CHANCE.,...HE WOULDN'T RUN HIS CAMPAIGN ANY DIFFERENTLY.

MACON'S CITY COUNCIL WON'T DECIDE UNTIL NEXT WEEK....WHETHER TO SIGN OFF ON A LIST OF PROJECTS FOR A PROPOSED SPLOST.
CITY COUNCIL PRESIDENT JAMES TIMLEY SAYS COUINCIL MEMBERS STILL WANT TO IRON OUT DETAILS ON SOME OF THE FUNDING.
THE BIBB COUNTY COMMISSION GAVE APPROVAL TO THAT 190 MILLION DOLLAR LIST.
COUNTY CHAIRMAN SAM HART SAID HE'S NOT CONCERNED THAT THE CITY HASN'T ACTED YET.
HE SAID IF BOTH SIDES AGREE TO THE LIST BY NEXT WEEK...THEY'LL MAKE THE DEADLINE FOR PUTTING THE SPLOST ON THE NOVEMBER BALLOT.

LET'S TAKE ANOTHER LOOK AT THE RESULTS FROM TONIGHT'S MAYORAL RUNOFF ELECTION...
ELEANOR LISSITZYN IS WITH MAYOR REICHERT NOW... ELEANOR?
AGAIN... TONIGHT'S RESULTS ARE FOR THE PRIMARY RUNOFF... BUT CITY RACES WILL STILL APPEAR ON THE BALLOT FOR NOVEMBER'S GENERAL ELECTION... AND THE MAYOR'S RACE WON'T BE OFFICIALLY DECIDED UNTIL AFTER THAT ELECTION.

RECAPPING THE RESULTS FROM TONIGHT'S MACON CITY RUNOFF RACES... THE MACON MAYOR'S RACE WENT BACK AND FORTH ALL EVENING... BEFORE CURRENT MAYOR ROBERT APPARENTLY WON THE RUNOFF ELECTION.
ad-lib results
