HELLO EVERYONE AND THANKS FOR JOINING US. I'M FRANK MALLOY..THIS IS EYEWITNESS NEWS AT SIX.

TWO PEOPLE DIED IN A HEAD-ON COLLISION IN SOUTH BIBB COUNTY THIS AFTERNOON.
THAT'S ACCORDING TO SERGEANT SEAN DEFOE WITH THE BIBB COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT.
TWO CARS WERE INVOLVED IN A WRECK THAT HAPPENED ON THE 67-HUNDRED BLOCK OF HOUSTON ROAD... JUST SOUTH OF SARDIS CHURCH ROAD.
SIXTY-EIGHT YEAR-OLD SHIRLEY WISHER OF MACON... DRIVING A WHITE ESCALADE AND EIGHTY-TWO YEAR-OLD HERBERT SCOTT SENIOR OF WARNER ROBINS... DRIVING A S-10 CHEVY PICK-UP TRUCK... SLAMMED INTO EACH OTHER JUST AFTER TWELVE THIRTY.
THERE WERE NO OTHER PASSENGERS IN EITHER CAR AND BOTH DRIVERS DIED AT THE SCENE.
Sergeant Sean DeFoe: " According to investigators from what they can tell so far, the white escalade was traveling south on Houston Road, veered over into the northbound lane hitting a green S-10 Chevrolet pick-up truck head on."
DEFOE SAYS A WHITE ESCALADE WITH THE SAME LICENSE PLATE NUMBER AS THE ONE IN THE CRASH WAS ALSO INVOLVED IN A HIT AND RUN EARIER TODAY.
HE SAYS THE CAR VEERED INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND SIDE SWIPED A ROOFING TRUCK ON HARTLEY BRIDGE ROAD.

THE GEORGIA STATE PATROL IS ASKING FOR HELP FINDING THE HIT-AND-RUN DRIVER THAT KILLED AN EATONTON MAN THIS MORNING.
THE AGENCY SAYS 62-YEAR-OLD EDDIE BROADUS JUNIOR WAS FOUND DEAD AROUND 7-30 A-M ON GLENWOOD SPRINGS ROAD IN PUTNAM COUNTY... OFF THE U-S 441 BYPASS.
INVESTIGATORS BELIEVE A TRUCK OR S-U-V HIT BROADUS SOMETIME BETWEEN MIDNIGHT AND 6 A-M.
THEY SAY THE VEHICLE COULD BE A 1994 TO 1996 CHEVROLET TAHOE... SURBURBAN OR 1500 TO 3500 SERIES TRUCK WITH DAMAGE TO THE DRIVER'S SIDE.

MACON POLICE ARRESTED A MAN TODAY... FOR THE JULY 29TH SHOOTING AT WHISKEY RIVER NIGHTCLUB.
STEVEN HOLSEY WAS ARRESTED IN WARNER ROBINS ON MURDER CHARGES... BY MACON POLICE INVESTIGATORS AND THE SOUTHEAST REGIONAL FUGITIVE TASK FORCE.
20-YEAR-OLD ANTHONY HARRIS WAS SHOT IN THE STOMACH EARLY LAST FRIDAY MORNING IN THE BACK PARKING LOT OF THE NIGHTCLUB ON PIO NONO AVENUE.
HE WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD AT THE HOSPITAL LATER THAT MORNING.
MAJOR CHARLES STONE WITH THE MACON CRIMINAL INVESTIGATIONS DIVISION SAID HE HOPES THIS ARREST.... OFFERS SOME CLOSURE TO HARRIS' FAMILY.
we still have some outside homicide cases we're investigating, we haven't stopped. On this one we still got some work to do, just like every other one. But right now we're very happy we contacted the family earlier today prior to the arrest and let 'em know we were successful in making the arrest. So, the family can have some closure.
INVESTIGATORS SAID THEY ALSO TOWED HOLSEY'S CAR TO THE MACON POLICE CRIME LAB FOR PROCESSING.

A MACON MAN DIED THIS MORNING AFTER HIS HOUSE CAUGHT FIRE.
BIBB COUNTY CORONER LEON JONES SAYS 57 YEAR OLD EUGENE WYNN'S BODY WAS FOUND IN THE DOORWAY OF HIS BAY STREET HOME... AND THAT HE MAY HAVE DIED OF SMOKE INHALATION.
BRITTINY BARBER SPOKE TO FRIENDS WHO SAY WYNN WAS KNOWN AS A HELPING AND GIVING PERSON.

Tammy Hall: "I met him through a friend back in 88, and I've been knowing him all those years and they would all come down every weekend out in the yard and sit down and talk and have a good time."
NEIGHBOR RICK BROOKS SAYS WHEN HE SAW THE FLAMES EARLY FRIDAY MORNING... HE THOUGHT THE GARBAGE CAN WAS ON FIRE...
AND WAS SHOCKED TO FIND OUT IT WAS WYNN'S HOME.

Sgt. Steve Gatlin, "It going to be probably just an accidental fire but we still want to use our resources to make sure"
FRIENDS SAY THEY HAVE THEIR SPECULATIONS OF HOW IT MAY HAVE STARTED
Rick Brooks: "He may have had a cigarette and might have went to sleep or something."
LOOKING AT THE BURNED WOOD AND FIRE SCENE TAPE AROUND THE HOUSE... HALL REMEMBERED HER FRIEND.

ACCORDING TO A MACON POLICE REPORT... MARGRET MCWHITE TOLD OFFICERS SHE CAME OUTSIDE AND NOTICED A GREEN BOTTLE WITH A PIECE OF RAG INSIDE OF IT NEXT TO HER CHAIR.
THE REPORT SAYS AN OFFICER IDENTIFIED THE ITEM AS A MOLOTOV COCKTAIL AND IT WAS TAKEN TO THE CRIME LAB.
ACCORDING TO THE REPORT... THE OFFICER SAID THE STREET NEEDS MORE POLICE PRESENCE.
THE REPORT SAYS THAT OFFICER PLANS TO REQUEST MORE PATROLS IN THE AREA AT NIGHT.

ALL EYES WERE ON THE STOCK MARKET TODAY...AFTER YESTERDAY'S FREE FALL.
AFTER A DAY OF UPS AND DOWNS... THE DOW CLOSED UP 60 POINTS... THAT'S A BIG CHANGE FROM YESTERDAY'S 500 POINT PLUMMETT.
