President Obama is calling leaders of both parties back to the White House Saturday morning.

(OBAMA) THEY ARE GOING TO HAVE TO EXPLAIN TO ME HOW IT IS WE ARE GOING TO AVOID DEFAULT

The president has been trying for weeks to break the debt limit stalemate between Democrats and Republicans. But, the two sides remain deadlocked over spending cuts and tax hikes.

Friday evening House Speaker John Boehner called the President to break off talks.

(OBAMA) ONE OF QUESTION THE REPUBLICAN PARTY IS GOING TO HAVE TO ASK IS CAN THEY SAY YES TO ANYTHING

(STANDUP BRIDGE: Danielle Nottingham / CBS NEWS / CAPITOL HILL) - In a letter to Republican lawmakers.. House speaker Boehner said the President wanted tax hikes that would destroy jobs.. and that the two sides were never close to a deal.

The plan under discussion focused on cuts to domestic spending, social security, medicare and medicaid. But -- included new tax revenue.. that remains a hard sell to Republicans.

(SOT: REP. JOHN BOEHNER / R - HOUSE SPEAKER) -
THE WHITE HOUSE MOVED THE GOAL POST - THERE WAS AGREEMENT ON ADDITIONAL REVENUE - AND YESTERDAY THE PRESIDENT ASKED FOR MORE WHICH WAS GOING TO BE TAX INCREASE ON AMERICAN PEOPLE

The president is still pushing for a balanced package that will cut the deficit.. but Congress has less than two week's to find a way to raise the debt ceiling.. before the nation could default on its bills.
>> SPEAKER BOEHNER SAYS HE WILL BE WORKING WITH OTHER MEMBERS OF CONGRESS TO FIND A PATH FORWARD.
HE SAYS HE WILL BE AT THE PRESIDENT'S WHITE HOUSE MEETING TOMORROW.
GEORGIA SENATOR SAXBY CHAMBLISS - ONE OF THE SO-CALLED GANG OF SIX - WILL APPEAR ON CBS NEWS FACE THE NATION SUNDAY MORNING..
THE PROGRAM AIRS AT 10:30 ON 13 WMAZ..

STEPHEN MCDANIEL COULD FIND OUT NEXT WEEK WHETHER THE BIBB COUNTY D-A'S OFFICE CAN PROSECUTE HIM ON BURGLARY CHARGES
MCDANIEL IS A FORMER NEIGHBOR OF HOMCIDE VICTIM LAUREN GIDDINGS..
MACON POLICE NAMED HIM AS A PERSON OF INTEREST IN HER KILLING.
AS CANDACE ADORKA REPORTS... HE WENT BACK TO COURT TODAY FOR A CONFLICT OF INTEREST HEARING.
BIBB COUTY SUPERIOR COURT JUDGE... TILMAN SELF... NOW HAS TO ANSWER THE QUESTION... DOES STEPHEN MCDANIEL'S PROSECUTOR HAVE A CONFLICT OF INTEREST IN TRYING HIS BURGLARY CHARGES?
AT A FRIDAY MORNING HEARING... MCDANIEL'S ATTORNEY... FLOYD BUFORD... ARGUED THERE IS A CONFLICT.
HE SAYS BECAUSE MCDANIEL WORKED IN THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY'S OFFICE AS AN INTERN FOR THREE MONTHS LAST SPRING... THE D-A CAN'T TRY HIS CASE FAIRLY... AND THAT WOULD VIOLATE HIS CLIENT'S RIGHTS.
BUFORD SAID EVEN A PERCIEVED CONFILCT OF INTEREST... HOW THE PUBLIC MIGHT VIEW THE CASE... WOULD VIOLATE MCDANIEL'S RIGHTS.
WINTERS ARGUED THE LAW STATES THAT THERE HAS TO BE AN ACTUAL CONFLICT OF INTEREST... AND HE SAYS THERE'S NO EVIDENCE THAT THERE IS.
"if you're an intern, especially if it's a practicum like he was in, if you're placed here, you work for everybody. And that's dealing with lawyers, secretaries, assisting them. We have over 40 employees so it's not specifically one person."
STEPHEN'S PARENTS ATTENDED THE HEARING.
HIS FATHER... MARK MCDANIEL... SAT QUIETLY FOR MOST OF THE HEARING... NODDING OCCASIONALLY WHILE THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY WAS MAKING HIS CASE.
BUT HIS MOTHER... GLENDA... BECAME EMOTIONAL TOWARD THE END OF THE HEARING.
SHE STOOD UP AND ASKED THE JUDGE "MAY I SPEAK"
HER VOICE WAS CRACKING AND SHE STEADIED HERSELF ON THE BENCH IN FRONT OF HER.... AND THE JUDGE REPLIED... "NO M'AM YOU MAY NOT."
SHE SAT DOWN AND CRIED QUIETLY.
AFTER THE HEARING... FLOYD BUFORD SAID THAT THE PAST FEW WEEKS HAVE BEEN AN ORDEAL FOR THE MCDANIELS.
HE SAID STEPHEN WOULD HAVE LIKE TO BE HOME WITH HIS FAMILY AND STUDYING FOR NEXT WEEK'S BAR EXAM.
JUDGE TRIPP SELF SAID HE WOULD TAKE SOME TIME TO REVIEW THE CASE LAW BEFORE RULING.
GREG WINTERS SAID HE EXPECTED THE DECISION EARLY NEXT WEEK. HE SAID IF THE JUDGE ORDERS HIS OFFICE OUT OF THE CASE.... HE'D HAVE TO ASK A SPECIAL PROSECUTOR FROM A NEIGHBORING COUNTY TO HANDLE IT.

IMAGINE HITTING THE MUGGY TEMPERATURES... IN A HEAVY PLASTIC SUIT... HOOKED UP TO OXYGEN.

IF A HAZARDOUS EMERGENCY HIT... THESE GUYS WOULD KNOW JUST WHAT TO DO.

Nats. cranking strap

Channing Jones, Macon-Bibb Fire Department: "He has to make sure that he is not strapping it on too tight because you don't want to over squeeze it, because that'll mess up the container."

IT'S CHANNING JONES' FIRST TIME IN HAZMAT TRAINING.

Channing Jones: "It's very hot. You really can't see much as you put on all this stuff, because your visibility is about nothin'."

BUT THROUGH THE FOG...

Nats, breathing through tank

...HE HAS TO CLEAN A CHEMICAL SPILL...

Nats: "You got it? Perfect?"

...AND FIX A LEAK.

Nats, crank

IT'S ALL PART OF HAZARDOUS MATERIALS EMERGENCY TRAINING... PUT ON BY THE MACON-BIBB FIRE DEPARTMENT.

Channing Jones: "What we need to do is, place this over our heads like so, make sure that it has a nice, snug, fit. Next thing I'll be doin' is cuttin' on my tank, to make sure I have air."

JONES SAYS... IT'S ALL ABOUT THE GEAR.

Channing Jones: "When you're in these Class A suits, you're not supposed to have your knees on the ground or anything like that, because for one these suits are quite expensive, you don't want to puncture a hole. And if this was a real hazmat situation we could actually contaminate ourselves."

SO WHEN IT COMES TO AN EMERGENCY...

Nats, breathing

...THIS TEAM WILL HAVE IT COVERED.
