HELLO EVERYONE AND THANKS FOR JOINING US.I'M LORRA LYNCH-JONES.
AND I'M FRANK MALLOY..THIS IS EYEWITNESS NEWS AT SIX.

MACON POLICE WERE OUT ON THE STREETS AGAIN TODAY... SEARCHING FOR CLUES IN THE DEATH OF MERCER LAW GRADUATE LAUREN GIDDINGS.
AS CANDACE ADORKA REPORTS... AN OUT OF TOWN VOLUNTEER TEAM...COVERED SOME OLD GROUND...AND ALSO EXPANDED THE SEARCH.
<<
TWO K-9 SEARCH TEAMS CAME OUT AT SUNRISE TO THE APARTMENT OF MERCER LAW GRADUATE LAUREN GIDDINGS. ONE OF THE DOG HANDLERS... HOYT LUMPKIN... SAYS THE CADAVER DOGS MINKA AND ROXY ARE GOOD AT WHAT THEY DO.
"They're german shepards. One of then about 8 years old the other about 3 years old."
THE DOGS SNIFFED THE APARTMENT COMPLEX AND NEARBY YARDS... THE GROUNDS AROUND THE LAW SCHOOL... AND THE TREE LINE AND TRAIN TRACKS AT ROSE HILL CEMETERY AND ALONG THE OCMULGEE RIVER.
"You give the dog the command to search, they go out and start searching. The dog nose is probably 100 time better than man's, so it's a combination between the dog and the handler."
MACON POLICE LIEUTENANT RANDY GONZALES SAYS THIS ROUND OF SEARCHING WRAPPED UP AROUND THE BACONSFIELD SHOPPING PLAZA.
HE SAYS ONE TIP SAID LAUREN GIDDINGS OFTEN JOGGED HERE... AND POLICE CHIEF MIKE BURNS SAYS NO TIP GOES IGNORED.
"We've got numerous e-mails form college students, even other agencies. They tell us there might not be anything to it, but we might want to checK it out. We've been checking everything."
BURNS SAYS WHILE THE DOGS WERE SEARCHING... OTHER INVESTIGATORS WERE ALSO HARD AT WORK.
"Well an investigation like this, there's numerous people we're having to interview. Everytime we do one interview, we might come up with another name then we have to check that person out."
HE SAYS POLICE HAVE VIDEO OF GIDDINGS ON JULY 25TH....THE LAST DAY SHE WAS SEEN ALIVE....THOUGH HE WOULDN'T SAY WHERE OR WHEN IT WAS TAKEN.
BUT HE'S CONVINCED THE INVESTIGATION WILL FIND WHAT HAPPENED TO LAUREN GIDDINGS.
"Our solvability with homicides is better than any in the country so I feel confident about this one."
CANDACE ADORKA, 13 WMAZ EYEWITNESS NEWS. >> BURNS SAYS GIDDING'S NEXT DOOR NEIGHBOR... STEPHEN MCDANIEL... IS STILL A PERSON OF INTEREST IN THE CASE.
MCDANIEL HAS BEEN IN JAIL SINCE LAST WEEK FOR BURGLARY CHARGES FROM 2009.
HIS BOND HEARING HAS BEEN SET FOR NEXT THURSDAY..
FRIENDS AND FAMILY WILL GATHER TOMORROW TO REMEMBER LAUREN GIDDINGS.

ROBERT BROWN FIELDED A QUESTION ABOUT UNPAID TAXES AND GARBAGE FEES DURING LAST NIGHT'S MAYORAL DEBATE IN THE 13WMAZ STUDIO'S..
MORE THAN FOURTEEN HUNDRED DOLLARS ARE OWED ON THE PROPERTY AT 2-1-8 FOREST AVENUE WHICH BROWN ONCE OWNED.
BUT BROWN SAYS BRENDA BRADLEY GAVE HIM THE PROPERTY.
Robert Brown, Democratic Mayoral Candidate: For reasons that are personal, she had deeded that property to me. Now she has requested that the property be deeded back to her, and we have done that.
PROPERTY TAX RECORDS SHOW BROWN DEEDED THE PROPERTY BACK TO BRADLEY TWO WEEKS AGO FOR A DOLLAR. IT HAPPENED TWO DAYS AFTER WE FIRST REPORTED THE STORY.
BROWN SAYS HE NEVER OWED THE TAXES BECAUSE BRADLEY AGREED TO PAY THEM.
Robert Brown, Democratic Mayoral Candidate: I want to make it clear. I have not abdicated on my responsibilities as far as taxes are concerned. If you would check the records carefully, you would see that tax bill for that property went directly to that address. All of my other tax bills came directly to me.
RECORDS CONFIRM THE PAST DUE TAX AND GARBAGE BILLS WENT TO THE FOREST AVENUE ADDRESS.. BROWN'S OTHER TAX BILLS WENT TO HIS OFFICE ON NEW STREET.
EARLIER.. BRADLEY TOLD 13WMAZ THAT SHE HAD AGREED TO PAY THE TAX AND GARBAGE FEES.. BUT HAD FALLEN BEHIND BECAUSE OF TOUGH ECONOMIC TIMES.
BROWN IS ONE OF FOUR DEMOCRATS SEEKING THE MAYOR'S OFFICE THIS YEAR.. THE OTHERS ARE FORMER FIREFIGHTER PAUL BRONSON.. FORMER MAYOR C. JACK ELLIS AND MAYOR ROBERT REICHERT.
THEY MEET IN THE JULY 19 PRIMARY.
