C. Jack Ellis, Democratic Mayoral Candidate: I think if you look at the record from 2007 to now, I think you would see that we had more homicides in our community than we've had in over two decades, what I'm told.
ON THE OTHER HAND.. REICHERT BELIEVES CRIME STATISTICS SHOW HE'S DONE A GOOD JOB OF KEEPING CRIMINALS IN CHECK.
Robert Reichert, Democratic Mayoral Candidate: I think statistics will bear out that there has been a reduction in violent crime as well as property crimes in Macon and Bibb County.
IN ADDITION TO THE MAYOR'S OFFICE.. ALL FIFTEEN CITY COUNCIL SEATS ARE UP FOR ELECTION THIS YEAR.. SEVERAL COUNCIL HOPEFULS.. MOSTLY INCUMBENTS.. ALSO QUALIFIED ON THE FIRST DAY.
