STATE REPRESENTATIVE DAVID LUCAS SAYS HE'S DOING WELL AFTER SUFFERING A HEART ATTACK LAST NIGHT.
THE 61-YEAR-OLD LUCAS SAYS DOCTORS OPERATED ON HIM TO PUT TWO STENTS INTO CLOGGED ARTERIES.
LUCAS SAYS HE FEELS LUCKY TO BE ALIVE AFTER DOCTORS TOLD HIM A MAJOR ARTERY WAS OVER NINETY PERCENT BLOCKED.
HE IS NOW RECOVERING AT THE MEDICAL CENTER OF CENTRAL GEORGIA
DAVID'S WIFE ELAINE LUCAS SAYS... HE WAS AT HIS ANNUAL SOUL JAM CONCERT AT HENDERSON STADIUM IN MACON... WHEN HE BEGAN SUFFERING FROM HEAT EXHAUSTION AND DEHYDRATION.
DAVID LUCAS SAYS HE EXPECTS TO BE RELEASED SOMETIME LATER THIS WEEK.
REPRESENTATIVE LUCAS RECENTLY ANNOUNCED PLANS TO RUN FOR ROBERT BROWN'S STATE SENATE SEAT WHEN BROWN STEPS DOWN TO RUN FOR MAYOR OF MACON.

TODAY'S HIGH TEMPERATURES DIDN'T KEEP SOME CENTRAL GEORGIANS FROM GETTING OUTSIDE TODAY.

YVONNE SHAW SAYS SHE BRINGS HER FAMILY TO THE LAKE EVERY YEAR... BUT THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THEY'VE BROUGHT SHADE WITH THEM.
Yvonne Shaw, Macon:" A lot of sunscreen for today, and even got a tent so even when they are out of the water they can sit in the shade, as you can see I have my hat and my sunglasses on to protect my eyes so just a lot of that for today because its really hot." (laughs)
THE C-D-C SAYS HEAT STRESS COMES IN DIFFERENT DEGREES.
HEAT STROKE HAPPENS WHEN THE BODY CAN'T CONTROL ITS TEMPERATURE.

MEMORIAL DAY CEREMONIES TOOK PLACE ALL ACROSS CENTRAL GEORGIA AS MANY PEOPLE CAME OUT TO REMEMBER THOSE MILITARY MEN AND WOMEN WHO ARE NO LONGER WITH US...

FORT HAWKINS SECOND ANNUAL MEMORIAL DAY CEREMONY BEGAN AT FORT HILL CEMETERY WITH A SHORT PRESENTATION TO REMEMBER THOSE WHO SERVED AT THE EARLY AMERICAN FRONTIER.
MARTY WILLETT.... FORT HAWKINS COMMISSION PRESS OFFICER SAYS BETWEEN 20 TO 200 U.S. ARMY SOLIDERS DIED AND ARE BURIED IN UNMARKED GRAVES AT FORT HILL CEMETERY.
HE WANTS TO BRING ATTENTION TO THE SOLIDERS WHO DIED..

DOZENS FROM THE MACON COMMUNITY ... CITY LEADERS AND RETIRED SERVICE MEN AND WOMEN CAME OUT TO A MEMORIAL DAY CEREMONY AT LINWOOD CEMETERY.

THE CEREMONY KICKED OFF WITH PATRIOTIC SONGS FROM A LOCAL VIOLINIST AND AN INTRODUCTION OF THE KEYNOTE SPEAKER ... RETIRED LT. COLONEL JACQUELINE G. SCOTT.
SCOTT SPOKE ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF REMEMBERING WHAT THE DAY REPRESENTS.
FOLKS ALSO WITNESSED A WREATH LAYING AND RETIRING OF COLORS WHILE OTHERS WALKED AROUND TO VISIT GRAVE SITES OF THE FALLEN.

A MEMORIAL SERVICE HONORED THOSE WHO SERVE AND HAVE SERVED.
THE SERVICE WAS HELD AT THE BYRON MUNICIPAL COMPLEX ON MAIN STREET IN BYRON.

OTHER CEREMONIES AROUND THE COUNTRY HONORED THE NATION'S FALLEN SOLDIERS TODAY... AS AMERICANS SHOWED THEIR APPRECIATION FOR THOSE WHO MADE THE ULTIMATE SACRIFICE.

Across the country, Americans honored the nation's war dead, with celebrations
of service and colorful parades.

And there were somber moments too. At Fort Snelling, in Minnesota, 308
crosses represent the lives of soldiers lost from that community since 9/11.

the fallen in Section 60 of the cemetery , where troops killed in Iraq and

than 90-thousand U.S. troops serving in Afghanistan.
