HUNDREDS OF VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES TOOK TIME TO HONOR THOSE WHO SERVED IN THE U-S MILITARY... TODAY AT ANDERSONVILLE NATIONAL CEMETERY.

THE AIR FORCE RESERVE BAND GREETED THE CROWD WITH MUSIC AS PEOPLE TOOK THE THEIR SEATS FOR THE CEREMONY.
SPEAKERS PAID THEIR RESPECTS TO VETERANS FROM EACH BRANCH OF THE MILITARY... AND SPOKE ABOUT THE SACRIFICES THEY MADE FOR OUR COUNTRY.
ORGANIZERS AND VETERANS SAY THE SERVICE GIVES PEOPLE A CHANCE TO PAY TRIBUTE TO THOSE WHO MADE THE ULTIMATE SACRAFICE FOR FREEDOM.

MEMORIAL DAY OBSERVANCES CONTINUE TOMORROW.

THE MACON CEMETERY PRESERVATION CORPORATION INVITES YOU TO A SERVICE AT THE HISTORIC LINWOOD CEMETERY... THAT'S ON WALNUT STREET IN MACON.
IT STARTS AT ELEVEN A-M.
RETIRED AIR FORCE LEUTINANT COLONEL JACQUELINE SCOTT WILL BE THE SPEAKER AT THE SERVICE.

ALSO ON MONDAY... FORT HAWKINS PLANS TO HOLD IT'S SECOND ANNUAL MEMORIAL DAY OBSERVANCE.
THE EVENT BEGINS AT NOON... WITH A CEREMONY AT FORT HILL CEMETERY... AND IS FOLLOWED BY A RECEPTION.

BETHANY CHRISTIAN ACADEMY 3RD GRADER (SO-NON-O) SONANO FOUNTAIN RECENTLY TOOK HOME AN AGRICULTURE AWARD FOR GROWING ONE OF THE LARGEST CABBAGES IN CENTRAL GEORGIA.
FOUNTAIN SAID HE'S BEEN GROWING THE CABBAGE FOR ABOUT 12 WEEKS IN HIS SCHOOL'S GARDEN.

WEIGHING IN AT ABOUT 7 POUNDS ... HIS PLANT CAME IN SECOND PLACE... AFTER A CLASSMATES GREW A 14 POUNDER.
FOUNTAIN SAYS HE WAS SHOCKED WHEN HE PULLED IT FROM THE GROUND... AND WAS EVEN MORE EXCITED TO SHARE IT WITH OTHERS.



SONANO FOUNTAIN, MACON :"I WENT HOME I SHOWED MY MOM AND THEN SHE TOOK SOME PICTURES OF ME HOLDING IT AND THEN THAT WHEN I PUT IT UP AND I TOLD EVERYBODY WHO CAME TO MY HOUSE."
