SOME HOUSTON COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS ARE STARTING A NEW CHAPTER IN THEIR LIVES ... WE'LL TAKE YOU TO THEIR GRADUATION CEREMONY.
EYEWITNESS NEWS AT 11 IS STRAIGHT AHEAD.

SOME PASSENGERS ON A FLIGHT TO ATLANTA HAD A SCARY LANDING TODAY.
FIND OUT WHY CREWS HAD TO EVACUATE THE PLANE.

INVESTIGATORS SAY THEY'RE CLOSER TO FIGURING OUT WHAT MAY HAVE CAUSED A FIRE THAT GUTTED A BYRON HOME FRIDAY.

PHILLIP REED SENT US THESE PHOTOS THAT SHOW YOU WHAT HAPPENED AS THE FLAMES RIPPED THROUGH THE SIDING.
PEACH COUNTY FIRE CHIEF THOMAS DOLES SAYS IT HAPPENED AT A HOME ON SHAWNEE CIRCLE.
THE BLAZE DAMAGED THREE QUARTERS OF THE HOUSE.
DOLES FIRST SAID NO ONE WAS AT HOME WHEN THE FIRE STARTED AROUND 5-30... BUT CORRECTED THAT INFORMATION SATURDAY.
HE SAYS ONE WOMAN WAS HOME WITH HER PET DOGS AT THE TIME.. BUT THEY GOT OUT AND WERE NOT HURT.

DOLES SAYS THE FIRE APPEARS TO HAVE STARTED IN THE ATTIC.. AND THOUGH INVESTIGATORS DON'T KNOW EXACTLY WHAT CAUSED IT... THEY BELIEVE IT BEGAN AS AN ELECTRICAL FIRE.




THOUSANDS OF PARENTS AND FRIENDS FILED INTO THE GEORGIA NATIONAL FAIRGROUNDS TO SEE HOUSTON COUNTY SENIORS WALK ACROSS THE STAGE.

STUDENTS AND FAMILIES PACKED THE MILLER-MURPHY-HOWARD BUILDING IN PERRY TO CELEBRATE THE END OF THEIR HIGH SCHOOL YEARS.
OVER FOUR HUNDRED NORTHSIDE HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS RECEIVED THEIR DIPLOMAS TODAY.
VALEDICTORIAN KATELYN THORNBURG RECALLED MEMORIES FROM FOUR YEARS SPENT TOGETHER AS CLASSMATES.
AFTER TURNING THEIR TASSLES GRADUATES SANG THEIR ALMA MATER FOR THE FIRST TIME AS NORTHSIDE HIGH SCHOOL ALUMNI.
ONE PARENT SHARED HIS PROUDEST MOMENT.

DARYL CONEY, LOUISIANA: "SEEING HER WALK ACROSS THAT STAGE, YOU KNOW, FOR THE LAST TIME IN HIGH SCHOOL, GETTING HER DIPLOMA, AND MOVING ON TO THE NEXT LEVEL."

STUDENTS FROM HOUSTON COUNTY CAREER ACADEMY... WARNER ROBINS AND HOUSTON COUNTY HIGH SCHOOLS ALSO GRADUATED TODAY.



CENTRAL GEORGIA STUDENTS LIFTED LOADS OF STUFF TODAY... TO HELP TORNADO VICTIMS.

FOR THE PAST COUPLE OF WEEKS... STUDENTS AT HOUSTON COUNTY'S HIGH SCHOOLS STUFFED SEMI-TRUCKS WITH DONATED ITEMS FOR PEOPLE IN AREAS DEVASTATED BY RECENT TORANDOES.
TODAY... THEY FILLED TRUCKS WITH CLOTHING... HOUSEHOLD ITEMS... AND FOOD.
EACH SCHOOL HAS A SEMI-TRUCK TO FILL.
SO FAR... PERRY AND HOUSTON COUNTY HIGH EACH FILLED THEIR TRUCKS... AND MORE ITEMS ARE BEING TAKEN TO NORTHSIDE HIGH.
VOLUNTEERS SAY THE PROJECT BRINGS THE COMMUNITY TOGETHER.


JUSTIN ALEXANDER, WARNER ROBINS: "ITS NOT REALLY CHARITY, THIS IS JUST HELPING OUT OTHER PEOPLE WE DONT KNOW BUT ARE STILL OUR NEIGHBORS, SO IT DOESNT MATTER WHO THEY ARE, YOU SHOULD ALWAYS HELP OUT SOMEONE."
JULIA NELLSHAW, PARENT: "WE FORMED A BOND WITH LOT OF PEOPLE IN THE COMMUNITY WHO HAVE BEEN SO KIND TO BRING THEIR DONATIONS AND TO POUR THE OUTPOURING OF THEIR HEARTS."

JULIA NELLSHAW SAYS THE SCHOOLS PLAN TO MAKE DELIVERIES NEXT WEEKEND TO TUSCALOOSA... AND RINGGOLD GEORGIA.
SHE SAYS THEY HAVE NOT DECIDED YET IF THEY'LL SEND ITEMS TO JOPLIN MISSOURI.


AT JUST 17 YEARS OLD... TAYLOR AYERS SUFFERS FROM NOT ONE... BUT TWO RARE DISEASES.

FOLKS TURNED OUT TO THE PIGGLY WIGGLY ON HOUSTON ROAD IN WARNER ROBINS TODAY.. TO HELP RAISE MONEY FOR HER TREATMENT.
TAYLOR'S MOTHER ORGANIZED A YARD SALE TO RAISE FUNDS TO GET HER DAUGHTER TO THE CINNCINATI CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL.
MISSIE AYERS SAYS IT'S THE ONLY HOSPITAL IN THE COUNTRY THAT TREATS HER DAUGHTER'S ILLNESSES.
SHE SAYS THEY NEED ENOUGH MONEY FOR FOOD... A PLACE TO STAY... AND TREATMENT THAT'S NOT COVERED BY INSURANCE.
THEY SOLD TEDDY BEARS... BOOKS.. AND OTHER ITEMS.

MORE THAN EIGHTY PEOPLE SHOWED UP TO TAKE A DIP... AND COOL OFF IN THE WATER.
SOME MADE A SPLASH... JUMPING OFF THE POOL'S DIVING BOARD.
THE COST TO SWIM IS ONE DOLLAR PER PERSON.
ALL CITY POOLS ARE OPEN FROM NOON TO SIX ON SATURDAYS... TWO TO FOUR ON SUNDAYS... AND ONE TO SEVEN DURING THE WEEK.
KIDS SAY THEY BEAT THE HEAT... WHILE HAVING FUN.
