A MACON-BIBB COUNTY FIREFIGHTER DROWNED AT LAKE TOBESOFKEE THIS EVENING AFTER SAVING THREE KIDS IN THE WATER... THAT'S ACCORDING TO CORONER LEON JONES
SERGENT SEAN DEFOE WITH THE BIBB COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE SAYS THE BODY OF 24 YEAR OLD MICHAEL DEWAYNE JONES WAS FOUND AROUND EIGHT O'CLOCK.
DEFOE SAYS THREE CHILDREN GOT IN TROUBLE IN THE WATER... WHEN THE MAN AND SEVERAL OTHERS WENT IN TO SAVE THEM.
THE CHILDREN WERE RESCUED... ACCORDING TO DEFOE... BUT JONES DROWNED.
IT'S NOT CLEAR IF HE WAS RELATED TO THE CHILDREN.
ATLANTIC SOUTHERN BANK BRANCHES OPENED THIS MORNING.. UNDER A NEW NAME.
THAT'S AFTER THE F-D-I-C TOOK CONTROL LAST NIGHT... BECAUSE TOO MANY BAD LOANS LEFT THE BANK WITHOUT ENOUGH MONEY TO OPERATE.

FRIDAY.. ATLANTIC SOUTHERN BANK IN MACON JOINED THE LIST OF MORE THAN 60 FAILED COMMUNITY BANKS IN GEORGIA SINCE 2008.

FOR THOSE WHO PREFER TO BANK SMALLER... IT'S A DISAPPOINTING BLOW.

THEY ALSO USED THE OCCATION TO HONOR TROY DELEON... WHO RETURNED FROM IRAQ ON THRUSDAY
HIS DAUGHTER HANNAH BOWLS WITH THE LEAGUE..
AS A TOKEN OF THEIR APPRECIATION... A BOWLING PIN SIGNED BY COMMUNITY LEADERS WAS GIVEN TO DELEON.
THE AIRMAN SAYS HE WAS GLAD TO SERVE HIS COUNTRY.
