A MACON WOMAN WHO SHOT AND KILLED HER EX-BOYFRIEND ON WEST OAK DRIVE SAYS IT WAS SELF DEFENSE.
KAMIKA FLEMMING SAYS THURSDAY NIGHT'S SHOOTING CAME AFTER MONTHS OF PHYSICAL AND EMOTIONAL ABUSE.

FLEMING SAYS THE VIOLENCE STARTED EARLY IN THEIR SIX-MONTH RELATIONSHIP. MACON POLICE SAY HE WAS CHARGED WITH ASSAULTING HER IN MARCH...BUT GOT OUT ON BOND.
SHE SAYS HE SHOULD HAVE STAYED BEHIND BARS.
"If he did it to me, and he did it to another woman...then they shoudl not have brought him out on bond. They should have went ahead and put him away."
"I got close...I saw body laying right there in the yard on the ground."
DERRICK WALKER LIVES A FEW HOUSES AWAY. HE SAYS HE HEARD THE GUN... AND JOINED THE GROWING CROWD OF ONLOOKERS.
"But you could see lights comin from everywhere. you like and then everybody went out and that brotha was still on the ground and they were still tryin to
revive him and.. (pauses) he didn't ever respond."
Flemming: "I'm sorry that this family lost a son, but I'm not sorry because my mom and them would have lost their child."
FLEMING SAYS SHE IS RECOVERING FROM PHYSICAL AND EMOTIONAL WOUNDS AFTER THE ORDEAL... BUT SHE SAYS THERE'S STILL HAS A LONG WAY TO GO.
"Right now for me to move forward, it will take support from my family members and just keep doing and doing what I need to do... be praying about it and keep moving."
