I'M FRANK MALLOY..
AND I'M LEAH JOHNSON..THIS IS EYEWITNESS NEWS AT 11.

THE CITY OF WARNER ROBINS COULD TAKE A LOOK AT INCREASING THE SALARIES AND GAS ALLOWANCES FOR MAYOR AND COUNCIL.
COUNCIL MEMBERS SAY THEIR SALARIES ARE JUST OVER 10 THOUSAND DOLLARS A YEAR AND GAS ALLOWANCE IS 34 HUNDRED A YEAR.
THE CURRENT GAS ALLOWANCE IS 3 THOUSAND DOLLARS A YEAR FOR THE MAYOR.
THE CITY SAYS THE LAST TIME THE TWO ITEMS WERE VOTED ON WAS IN 19-97.
SOME ON COUNCIL SAY THE NUMBERS HAVEN'T KEPT UP WITH INCREASES IN THE COST OF LIVING AND THEY'RE SPENDING MORE TO DO THE JOB THAN THEY GET PAID.
Tom Simms, Jr. "It's not about the money but to be able to break even with being able to do this job and go out and see the people and do it right and with efficiency. I believe a little more money might be an order."
THE CITY DIDN'T DISCUSS HOW MUCH ALLOWANCES COULD INCREASE.
CITY ATTORNEY JIM ELLIOTT SAYS THE CITY WOULD HAVE TO RUN A LEGAL ADVERTISEMENT ANNOUNCING THE VOTE ON THE ALLOWANCES THREE WEEKS BEFORE IT HAPPENS.

BIBB'S NEW SUPERINTENDENT SAYS HE'S AHEAD OF SCHEDULE ON HIS ENTRY PLAN.
TONIGHT, THE BOARD FINALIZED A VOTE APPROVING ROMAIN DALLEMAND'S PLAN.
LAST WEEK HE OUTLINED HOW HE'LL SPEND THE NEXT EIGHTEEN MONTHS EXAMINING THE DISTRICT... TO MAKE CHANGES.
DALLEMAND SAYS HE'S REVIEWED DEPARTMENT DOCUMENTS... AND MADE HOME VISITS... DURING A TOUR WITH MENTOR'S PROJECT LEADER JUNE O'NEAL.
Romain Dallemand, Bibb County Superintendent: "Met with some parents and grandparents, in fact I met with a great grandparent who was taking care of her great grandchildren and it's been very eye-opening, helps to give me a great perspective of the district and the community."
DALLEMAND PLANNED TO BEGIN SCHOOL VISITS IN MARCH... BUT SAYS NOW... HE COULD START THOSE VISITS SOONER.
HE'LL PRESENT HIS NEW LEADERSHIP STRUCTURE TO THE BOARD AT THEIR NEXT COMMITTEE MEETING ON MARCH TENTH.
ALSO NEXT MONTH... THE SCHOOL BOARD COULD BEGIN WEEKEND TRAINING SESSIONS... TO EVALUATE THEIR PERFORMANCE... AND POSSIBLY BRING IN CONSULTANTS.

ALSO AT TONIGHT'S MEETING... THE DISTRICT HONORED HARTLEY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CUSTODIAN WENDELL SMITH FOR HIS QUICK WORK TO PUT OUT AN ELECTRICAL FIRE.
THE FIRE HAPPENED IN LATE AUGUST.
SMITH SAYS HE NOTICED SOMETHING FALL FROM THE CEILING IN THE SCHOOL'S FOYER... AND FOUND SOME WIRES WERE ON FIRE.
HE SAYS HE PULLED THE ALARM... AND USED A FIRE EXTINGUISHER TO STOP FLAMES FROM SPREADING.
Wendell Smith, Custodian: "We got a chance to come back to school the next day, and didn't have to do no cleaning up, no unnecessary cleaning up."
SMITH RECEIVED THE BEACON OF LIGHT AWARD.
HE SAYS HE'S WORKED IN BIBB SCHOOLS FOR EIGHTEEN YEARS.
