CRIME IN MACON JUMPED TWO PERCENT IN 2010.
THAT'S 140 FORTY MORE CRIMES... THAN IN 2009.... ACCORDING TO STATISTICS PROVIDED BY MACON POLICE.
AMY AUBERT SHOWS YOU WHICH CRIMES SAW THE MOST CHANGES... AND WHAT MACON POLICE SAY... THEY'RE DOING DIFFERENTLY THIS YEAR.

Chief Burns: "We were up two percent this year compared to last year which equates to one hundred and forty two crimes."


MACON POLICE CHIEF MIKE BURNS REFERS TO THE CITY'S 20-10 CRIME STATS.


Chief Burns: "I'm disappointed, but, ya know, we're going to addres the problems this year as we go."


THE STATS SHOW...


   BURGLARIES - INCREASED 19 PERCENT WITH MORE THAN 300 MORE BREAK-INS REPORTED IN THE CITY.
HOMICIDES ROSE 22 PERCENT.
AGGRAVATED ASSAULTS WERE UP 11 PERCENT.
BUT ROBBERIES....WERE DOWN 24 PERCENT


Chief Burns: "Homicide is one crime that is hard for us to have a lot of control over."


CHIEF BURNS SAYS THEY LOOK AT HOMICIDES BY HOW MANY THEY SOLVE... AND AFTER THE OCTOBER KILLING OF GAS STATION ATTENDENT... VISHNU PATEL... HE TOLD THE PUBLIC... HIS DEPARTMENT WILL DO WHATEVER IT TAKES.


Chief Burns, Oct. 2010: "I'm gonna have more cars on the street, I'm gonna utilize more overtime, we gonna work, and put as many people out there as we can until we catch these thugs."


CHEIF BURNS SAYS THEY'VE SOVED THIRTY SIX OF THE LAST FORTY HOMICIDE CASES.


BURGLARIES IN MACON JUMPED NINETEEN PERCENT... AND THERE WERE MORE THAN 350 MORE REPORTED LAST YEAR...THAN IN 2009.


Chief Burns: "This year it's obvious we're going to have to concentrate more on the residential and business burglaries."


HE SAYS THE POLICE DEPARTMENT IS WORKING ON SEVERAL OPERATIONS FOR 20-11 AND SAYS  BURGLARIES ARE A TOP PRIORITY. 
CHIEF BURNS ALSO SAYS THEY BROUGHT IN A NEW OFFICER TO FOCUS ON THE BURGLARIES... BUT DIDN'T MENTION ANY SPECIFIC PLANS.


Chief Burns: "Yeah we were up a little bit, but it's the second lowest crime totals Macon's had."

POLICE NOW SUSPECT FOUL PLAY IN WEDNESDAY'S DISAPPEARANCE OF KIMBERLY MCKENZIE OF CENTERVILLE.

THE 38-YEAR OLDS CAR WAS FOUND IN MACON ON THURSDAY... BUT THERE WAS NO SIGN OF KIMBERLY.
HER SISTER SAYS SHE WAS ON THE PHONE WITH HER WHEN THE FAMILY FEARS SOMETHING TERRIBLE HAPPENED.
lu McKenzie, Sister: "I could hear something in the bakground saying some guys voice saying "Get in the back seat"and she immediately was like heywhat's going on it's not that servious you can have the car. then her phone dropped."
KIMBERLY'S FAMILY BEGS FOR HER SAFE RETURN.
Betsy McKenzie: Mother "Momma's looking Momma will never stop looking. Your whole family loves you, and just come home. An to the person or persons or who ever just let us have kim back."
CENTERVILLE POLICE CHIEF SYDNEY ANDREWS SAYS SEVERAL AGENCIES ARE NOW INVOLVED.
Chief Sydney Andrews, Centerville Police :"We do not have any leads as to why Ms McKenzie has disappeared or as to where she is at. Right now we are just investigating the possibilities of what may have happened."
FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS FROM THE SPRING LAKE COMMUNITY WHERE SHE LIVES CALL KIM A STRONG PERSON.
Michelle Ricketts, Neighbor: "She's a fighter. She wouldn't go without fighting. It had to be more than one person if something happened to her."
BUT THE FAMILY SAYS THEY CONTINUE TO STAY POSITIVE.
Betsy McKenzie:"There's no way you can sit here and think about all the negative things that could be happening. "
Luciana McKenzie, "i can't think of the worst regardless of what's going on. The only thing I can think of is ok we have the car now we need to find my sister."

   BIBB COUNTY SCHOOLS SAY THEY'RE INVESTIGATING ALLEGED FACEBOOK THREATS THAT INVOLVED RUTLAND HIGH SCHOOL.
     THOSE THREATS INCLUDED A BOMB THREAT THAT LED TO A SEARCH AT THE SCHOOL THIS MORNING... ACCORDING TO SCHOOL SPOKESMAN CHRIS FLOORE.
    HE SAYS SOMEONE POSTED THE BOMB THREAT ON FACEBOOK USING A BOGUS NAME... AND ALSO COMMENTED ON OTHER STUDENTS' PAGES.
    FLOORS SAYS  AUTHORITIES DON'T KNOW WHO'S MAKING THE POSTS... AND THE NAME DOESN'T MATCH THAT OF ANYONE ENROLLED AT THE SCHOOL.
    DUE TO THE REPORTED BOMB THREAT, THE BUILDING WAS SEARCHED BEFORE STUDENTS ARRIVED THIS MORNING... BUT NOTHING WAS FOUND.


    IT'S SOUNDING LIKE A LOVELY WEEKEND AND A GREAT TIME TO GET OUT AND AROUND HERE IN CENTRAL GEORGIA.

ON RE-INSPECTION....THEY GOT AN 80....OR A B.
THE SONIC DRIVE IN ON RUSSELL PARKWAY GOT AN 80...ALSO A B....AFTER A 96 ON ITS LAST INSPECTION.
INSPECTORS SAID FOOD WAS STORED UNCOVERED...AND SOME SURFACES NEEDED TO BE CLEANED. ALSO... WIPE CLOTHES WERE NOT PROPERLY USED AND STORED.
AND JOHNNY'S NEW YORK PIZZA ON HIGHWAY 96 GOT AN 83...THAT'S A B... AFTER A 95 OR AN A...ON ITS LAST INSPECTION.
THE INSPECTION REPORT SAYS TOXIC SUBSTANCES WERE NOT PROPERLY IDENTIFIED AND STORED...EMPLOYEES' BEARD AND HAIR WERE TOO LONG...AND CLOTHING WAS HUNG UP ON FOOD STORAGE NOW FOR OUR TOP SCORES OF THE WEEK... AND GOLDEN SPATULA NOMINEES.SHELVES.
GO DOGS ON CLUB VILLA COURT IN KATHLEEN GOT A 100...AN A....AFTER ANOTHER 100 ON ITS LAST INSPECTION.
