AND I'M FRANK MALLOY..THIS IS EYEWITNESS NEWS AT SIX

THE G-B-I IS INVESTIGATING A SHOOTING THIS MORNING INVOLVING A HOUSTON COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPUTY AND A WOULD-BE BURGLAR.
AGENT CRAIG ROTTER SAYS THEY'VE INTERVIEWED DEPUTY STEVE GLIDDEN WHO SHOT AND KILLED A MAN WHO PULLED A GUN.
THE SHOOTING HAPPENED BETWEEN TWO HOMES ON SWEETWATER DRIVE... OFF FEAGIN MILL ROAD JUST OUTSIDE WARNER ROBINS CITY LIMITS...
AS VANESSA RUFFES EXPLAINS... IT STARTED AS A BURGLARY CALL ...JUST DOWN THE STREET.
<<
"I had a break-in at my wife's truck maybe within the last year. Caught a guy breaking in, but other than that you don't hear much. Pretty quiet."

CHANCE STROZIER SAYS THE SILENCE OF HIS DAILY ROUTINE WAS BROKEN MONDAY MORNING... BY A GUNSHOT OUTSIDE HIS HOME.

"Just got my wife and son off to work and school. and just was fixing breakfast and stuff and heard a gunshot."

THAT GUNSHOT... ACCORDING TO THE G-B-I... WAS A HOUSTON COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPUTY SHOOTING A SUSPECTED BURGLAR.
AGENT CRAIG ROTTER SAYS IT HAPPENED HERE... AT THE END OF THIS DRAINAGE DITCH BETWEEN TWO HOMES ON SWEETWATER DRIVE.

BUT ROTTER SAYS IT ALL STARTED... AT THIS HOME JUST UP THE STREET.

Rotter "A homeowner came home and discovered someone was in his house burglarizing the house. The suspect ran out of the house the homeowner called 911 and Houston County deputies responded to the area."

ROTTER SAYS ONE DEPUTY FOUND THE SUSPECT AT THE DITCH BEHIND THE HOMES AND FOUGHT WITH HIM. HE SAYS THE DEPUTY TRIED TO USE HIS TASER... AND WHEN THE SUSPECT PULLED A GUN...THE DEPUTY SHOT HIM.

THE MAN DIED ON THE SCENE.

ROTTER SAYS NOBODY ELSE SAW THE SHOOTING. HE SAYS NEIGHBORS... LIKE STEVE SHELTON... ONLY HEARD THE GUNSHOT... OR THE DEPUTY YELLING AT THE SUSPECT TO "HALT."

"Drinking a cup of coffee. I heard one gunshot and I stepped out the front door and I saw the deputies running between the house."

SHELTON AND OTHERS SAY THE SHOOTING... IS OUT OF PLACE FOR THE NEIGHBORHOOD... AND A REMINDER TO ALWAYS BE ALERT

"It's worrisome. It used to be a real quiet neighborhood and now you got this going on."

>> ROTTER SAYS THEY'RE NOT RELEASING THE NAME OF THE VICTIM PENDING AN AUTOPSY SCHEDULED FOR TOMORROW AT MACON'S G-B-I CRIME LAB.

THE COMPANY ALSO PROPOSES PAYING THE CITY AN EXTRA TWO POINT FIVE MILLION DOLLARS TO DO THINGS LIKE IMPROVE THE EIGHTY FIVE YEAR OLD BUILDING'S ENERGY EFFICENCY... WHICH BLASCOVICH SAYS IT DESPERATELY NEEDS...
You're just starting to deal with a lot of time scales, and you know, mounting issues of is the building really a premier facility that really can be something the citizens of Macon can be proud of? As well as is it offering what people are looking for when they're looking for a facility."
ACCORDING TO THE LETTER.... THE CITY COULD PAY UP TO THIRTY NINE MILLION DOLLARS... THATS SEVENTEEN MILLION DOLLARS MORE THAN THE SALE PRICE....   THE LETTER ALSO MENTIONS BUYING THE MACON TELEGRAPH BUILDING AND THE CITY HALL ANNEX...

THE ANNUAL MARCH TO PROTEST THE U.S. SUPREME COURT RULING THAT LEGALIZED ABORTION BROUGHT OUT MORE THAN A HUNDRED PEOPLE TO MACON CITY HALL THIS AFTERNOON.
PEOPLE GATHERED IN THE STREETS IN FRONT OF CITY HALL TO VOICE THEIR CONCERNS AGAINST ABORTION.
THE CEREMONY BEGAN WITH A PRAYER... FOLLOWED BY A GUEST SPEAKER AND THEN THE MARCH DOWN TO CENTRAL CITY PARK.
THE PEOPLE MARCHED IN SILENCE IN REMEMBRANCE OF THE BABIES ABORTED EACH YEAR..
Angelia Greenfield, Macon "I have five beautiful children that God blessed me with and I think every child is a blessing from God"
Bill Bennett, Byron "Life starts at conception and we don't have the right to destroy life, God has that right"
Denise Malone, Macon "How many doctors have we lost, how many brilliant minds have we lost.  I firmly believe that God gives life and we don't have the right to take it"
TODAY'S MARCH WAS ORGANIZED BY SAV A LIFE CENTER IN MACON..
MANY CENTRAL GEORGIA CHURCHES ALSO TAKE PART.
THIS MONTH MARKS THE 38TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE ROE VS. WADE DECISION.

THIS STORY HAS MANY OF YOU DEBATING ON OUR WEBSITE AT 13WMAZ DOT COM.
      ONE USER COMMENTED... "
WHY IS IT SO RIGHT TO KILL AN UNBORN CHILD THAT HAD NO SAY THAT THEY WANTED TO BE BORN? DOES ANYONE STOP TO THINK THAT THE CHILD THAT IS ABORTED COULD BE THE ONE THAT DISCOVERS THE ANSWER TO CANCER, IS THE NEXT GREAT LEADER OF THIS TOWN, STATE OR COUNTRY OR COULD BE YOUR CHILD'S BEST FRIEND.
SOMEONE ELSE WROTE... "ONCE A PRECEDENT HAS BEEN SET YOU CANNOT GO BACK...IN OTHER WORDS ONCE THERE ARE ABORTIONS, LEGAL OR OTHERWISE, THERE WILL ALWAYS BE ABORTIONS.
BETTER TO HAVE THEM LEGAL AND SAFE. THESE SAV A LIFE CENTER AND SEVERAL LOCAL CHURCH ZEALOTS WOULD BE BETTER OFF SPENDING THEIR TIME EDUCATING WOMEN AND YOUNG TEENS THAN TRYING TO OVERTURN ROE V WADE.
