THIS IS EYEWITNESS NEWS AT 11..
LEAH JOHNSON HAS THE NIGHT OFF..

AUTHORITIES CONTINUE TO SEARCH FOR A MISSING TAYLOR COUNTY MAN... WHO'S BEEN GONE NEARLY THREE WEEKS.
THE GBI HAS NOW JOINED THE INVESTIGATION..TODAY THEY INTERVIEWED THE FAMILY OF JAMES DUDLEY BYERS... ALSO KNOWN AS "TREY".

MICHELLE POSEY YOUNG SAYS ITS DIFFICULT TO IMAGINE LIFE... WITHOUT HER YOUNGEST SON TREY.

Michelle Posey Young, Taylor Co.
"Trey has never went a day without texting me, calling me."

YOUNG SAYS SHE AND HER 22-YEAR OLD SON... SHARED A TIGHT BOND.  SHE SAYS THAT... COUPLED WITH HER MOTHERLY INSTINCTS... SIGNALED SOMETHING WAS OFF... AFTER HE WENT TO A PARTY IN BIBB COUNTY ON SATURDAY DECEMBER 18TH AND DIDN'T RETURN.

Posey
"Monday, started getting worried."

ON DECEMBER 21ST... POSEY FILED A TAYLOR COUNTY MISSING PERSONS REPORT.   BUT SHERIFF JEFF WATSON SAYS THE INVESTIGATION IS FOCUSING MOSTLY IN OTHER COUNTIES... LIKE BIBB... WHERE BYERS WAS LAST SEEN... AND CRAWFORD... WHERE HE HAS FRIENDS.

Bofta Yimam: "Any foul play suspected?"
Sheriff Jeff Watson:  "You know when they've been gone this long,  you start to think so, but I don't have any evidence to prove either way."

THE SHERIFF SAYS THEY'VE WEIGHED FACTORS INCLUDING THE LENGTH OF TIME HE'S BEEN GONE... AND UNUSUAL BEHAVIOR... LIKE NOT CALLING HIS MOM.  HE SAYS BYERS IS NOT A DANGER TO HIMSELF OR OTHERS.   YOUNG CALLS  BYERS A CARING FATHER... WHO HAD NO ENEMIES.

Young,
"He's got a heart of gold, type of person that you know if you need anything, he's right there for you, he'll give you the shirt ofF his back."

SO IT'S NO WONDER HIS FAMILY HAS MADE HIS SUDDEN DISAPPEARANCE A COMMUNITY EFFORT.  POSTING SIGNS... HELPING INVESTIGATORS AND STAYING ON HIGH-ALERT..

BUT PERHAPS.. NO ONE IS KEEPING A BETTER EYE OUT FOR BYER... THAN SWISHER.... THE NEW FAMILY DOG. BYERS CARED FOR HIM UNTIL HE LEFT.

NOW... SWISHER... WAITS... AND WAITS...  PATIENTLY... ALONG WITH HIS FAMILY...  FOR HIS FRIEND TO RETURN.
